If you can't, come anyway to share the comradery! We look forward to seeing you there!
The PIBGC July trip to Schedel Gardens was a wonderful visit, and participants learned a great deal from our excellent guide who shared her knowledge of the trees, shrubs, and perennials on this beautiful seventeen acre estate. We encourage anyone who loves gardens to make the thirty-minute trip from Put in Bay to Elmore to witness this spectacular landscape first hand. We look forward to planning more garden visits in the future. If you have program ideas for next year, please contact one "of our Board Members so the Club can respond to your interests and your gardening needs. If you are interested in playing a more active role in the Garden Club, please contact a Board Member to let them know of your interest in that regard as well. We welcome new faces, new talents, new enthusiasm, and new friends!
In August, Jackie Taylor of the Put-in-Bay Nature Center gave an excellent presentation to Garden Club members on the importance of bees and butterflies in our gardens. Gardeners are all encouraged to avoid using harmful sprays and to select plantings for our landscapes that will attract these most essential pollinators.
We want to thank the volunteers who have helped with the many garden club chores and activities this year. Praise to the caretakers of the DeRivera Park gardens, to the basket planters, waterers, fertilizers, and lift-suppliers, to the beach clean-up crew, to the event organizers.jo the web master, to the Mayfly netting putter uppers and taker downers, to our program presenters, and to Chan Stevens for supplying the golf cart, free of charge, to the Garden Club again this year! It takes a village, and we are grateful to everyone who has come out to lend a hand this year! Please be assured that our island was just a bit more beautiful this summer because you volunteered to help!
